In order to provide a comprehensive study of art, students in Studio Art I analyze and interpret artwork created by others, examine the concepts of aesthetics and art criticism, and explore the practical application of art in a variety of careers. Studio Art I spotlights drawing as a form of communication and introduces students to the elements of art and principles of design through hands-on activities. Students sharpen their observation skills using a variety of art media. Through practice and experimentation, students become adept at using basic techniques and processes to depict the world around them and express their thoughts and feelings.
