This course offers an introduction to Michigan state history. The student will trace the history of the state from its earliest inhabitants to the present. The course focuses on the state's geography, history, economy, culture, and government. Students will be introduced to skills such as recognizing change and continuity over time, comparing and contrasting, synthesizing information from multiple sources, and identifying cause and effect. Portfolio assessments will incorporate each unit theme, requiring application of new skills learned. Prerequisites: None
