Arts and Crafts 1
This course provides a foundation for children' inherent artistic imagination and creativity by sharing the basics of art and making art. Students are introduced to primary colors, the color wheel, shapes such as lines and circles, and concepts such as symmetry. Young artists will also explore a variety of media such as pastels, watercolors, crayons , tempera, and pencil drawing. A particular emphasis on this course is on creating works of art. In this semester students will work create a watercolor tree, use a printing block, produce weather painting, and produce a watercolor painting. Emphasis in the second semester students will be placed on applying what the students have learned to make more detailed works of art. In this semester students will be creating colorful calendars, stenciling, fashioning intricate flower drawings, revisiting symmetrical objects, and mixing colors. This course will provide students with opportunities to experience many different forms of arts and to express their imagination while learning valuable skills. Each student is an individual with unique ideas and talents. Our goal is to provide each student an opportunity for personal growth for themselves and the world in which we live.
