AP English Literature and Composition
This course prepares high school students for the AP English Literature and Composition exam by providing them with college-level instruction in various kinds of analytic and persuasive essays on literary and nonliterary topics. Students become skilled readers of prose written in various periods, disciplines, and rhetorical contexts. Through their integrated reading and writing activities, students analyze and evaluate the interaction among a writer's subject and purpose and the audience's expectations, as well as the way in which conventions and language contribute to effectiveness in writing.
